U.S. FUTSAL NORTHEAST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP BECOMES BIGGEST FUTSAL TOURNAMENT UNDER ONE ROOF IN THE UNITED STATES AND CONCACAF

The 22nd U.S. Futsal Northeast Regional Championship Concludes After more than 3 days of Intense Competition!

2018 U.S. Futsal Northeast Regional Champions “Safira F.C.” (Open Mens Northeast Regional  Champions from Massachussets).

Atlantic City, New Jersey — The 22nd U.S. Futsal Northeast Regional Championship concluded Monday, February 19th after four days of intense and exciting competition. With 320 teams competing on 11 courts under one roof, this was the largest Futsal Tournament in the United States if not the world.  “This is great news”, said Alex Para, President & CEO of U.S. Futsal, “because it shows how much Futsal is growing in the Northeast Region and how competitive Futsal has become”.  With the growth of Futsal accelerating so rapidly over the last ten years, so has this competition. Teams from nine states from the Northeast competed this year. The Men’s Open final pitted Safira F.C from Massachusetts against  FC COPA from New Jersey. which Safira FC coming out on top 5 to 1.  In the Women’s Open category, NJ Copa  in a striller beat SUSA Futsal Academy 11 to 10.. The most points scorered in a Northeast Regional Womens Final.

The medal count is as follows  PAE 12, NYE 8, NJ 7, MD 6, MA 5, VA 4, CT 2, NH 0, PAW 0 and RI 0

To host the 2018 U.S. Futsal Northeast Regional Championship required 11 regulation courts and 87  referees over 4 days.

Hosting the 2018 U.S. Futsal Northeast Regional Championship required 11 regulation courts and 88 referees from all across the country,  were invited to participate in this tournament ,over 40 hours in 4 days. The event featured 571 regulation futsal games covered by a combined Atlantic Convention Center and Sports Commission, U.S. Futsal and Officiating staff of over 125. The games were played on 90,000 square feet of SnapSports Athletic flooring and encompassed 160,000 square feet of convention hall space. US Futsal used over 80 SELECT Futsal balls and awarded 22 Champions Cups and over 400 1st and 2nd Place medals. Eighty-eight referees, from various locations
across the country, were invited to participate in this tournament.

This year marked the first time that the Northeast Regional Championship has ‘been held in Atlantic City.. All the games, in every division over the course of this event, were well played and attended by more than 8,000 participants and spectators. When the Open Men played, there was standing room only.
